Old Tappan – Old Tappan Rd & Orangeburgh Rd
Bergen County has completed the analysis of the flashing traffic signal based on traffic counts conducted before school summer recess. The analysis was to determine if MUTCD Warrant 1 is met, as required by the County of Bergen, for consideration of installation of a full stop and go traffic signal. The intersection of Old Tappan Rd & Orangeburgh Rd is a 4-way flashing signalized intersection giving a blinking red stop to Orangeburgh Road and a blinking yellow to Old Tappan Road. A traffic count was taken on 5/7/2026 and analyzed to determine if it warrants the criteria for a traffic signal. After performing an analysis on the counts through HCS, it has been determined that warrant 1 for eight-hour vehicular volume is not met. The County requires that warrant 1 must be met for the intersection to meet the criteria for a traffic signal. In addition, there are some trees that should be trimmed at the southeast corner in order to improve sight distance for vehicles traveling northbound on Orangeburgh Road.
