Every construction plan that is filed with the Planning Board must also be submitted to the Shade Tree Advisory Committee for recommendations regarding the saving or replacement of trees.

The Committee takes care of damaged or diseased trees on Borough right-of-way, i.e. grounds within ten feet from the curb. In addition, each year the Committee plants a number of new trees on Borough property.

Meetings are held bi-monthly (starting in February) on the first Monday of the month at 9:00 a.m. in the conference room at Borough Hall. All meetings are open to the public.

Requests for planting or inspections of damaged trees should be made by calling Chairperson Artie Lake at 201-664-4438.

Please remember that before you may cut, prune, remove or spray any Borough shade tree you must obtain permission from the Superintendent of Public Works. If you have any question as to if a tree located within the 10-foot right of way is a Borough tree, please contact the DPW at 201-664-4438. Also, when planning alterations to your home or yard that may interfere with a Borough shade tree you will need to provide a copy of the plans to the Shade Tree Advisory Committee for review.
